Bio

As a journalist, Alec Scott has written for the New York Times, Guardian, LA Times, Smithsonian Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle and Sunset. His features have won awards, including a Lowell Thomas Gold in Adventure Travel from the Society of American Travel Writers and three National Magazine Awards in his native Canada. His novel, Until It Shimmers, was published by Ace of Swords in 2022. In a starred review, Kirkus Reviews said it was, “a potent, vigorous coming-of-age tale”, and the Globe & Mail called it “sparkling … drenched in longing.” He has taught writing at Stanford.

Oldest San Francisco is by way of being a love letter to his adopted city.
